On the occasion of International Women’s Rights Day, ACTUAL TEXTILES, a key player in Madagascar’s textile industry, has partnered with TotalEnergies for an innovative project combining textile recycling and social commitment. The company is transforming fabric scraps into reusable menstrual pads—an initiative addressing two major challenges: reducing textile waste and combating period poverty.

Textile Madagascar: Towards a More Eco-Friendly and Inclusive Industry
Fabric scraps are often discarded and underutilized. Aware of this issue, ACTUAL TEXTILES is embracing a zero-waste approach by recycling these materials into sustainable sanitary products.
This initiative aligns with a circular economy model, aiming to lower the environmental footprint of Madagascar’s textile sector while providing affordable solutions for women. By fully leveraging local resources, ACTUAL TEXTILES demonstrates that sustainable textiles in Madagascar are achievable.
ACTUAL TEXTILES & TotalEnergies: A Partnership Serving Malagasy Women
As part of the “Brisons les Règles” (Breaking the Rules) event led by TotalEnergies, ACTUAL TEXTILES is addressing challenges faced by many young Malagasy girls. Limited access to menstrual hygiene products hinders their education and autonomy.
Through this partnership, 8,000 teenage girls will receive reusable menstrual pads and period underwear, providing an economical, sustainable, and environmentally friendly solution.
