Actual Textiles Strengthens its Commitment to Health & Safety at work with ISO4500: 2018 Training

At ACTUAL TEXTILES, the safety and well-being of our employees are at the heart of our priorities. We firmly believe that safe and healthy working conditions are not only essential for the well-being of employees but also for the competitiveness and sustainability of our company in the global textile sector. In this context, and in order to meet international requirements for managing occupational risks, we recently participated in an in-depth training focused on the ISO 45001:2018 standard. This international standard is a true lever for implementing occupational health and safety management systems (OHS), aimed at reducing workplace accidents and fostering a safer work environment.

Development and Implementation of the ISO 45001:2018 Standard

The ISO 45001:2018 standard is one of the most recognized global standards for managing occupational health and safety. It allows for a systematic approach to managing occupational risks by strengthening the prevention of accidents and work-related illnesses. ACTUAL TEXTILES has made a strong commitment to ensuring that its working environment meets these excellence standards.

From February 10 to 12, 2025, our teams had the opportunity to attend advanced theoretical training on the implementation of this standard. This training reinforced our knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of management, department heads, HSE (Health, Safety, Environment) committees, and employees in developing an integrated occupational safety management system. The focus was on understanding how to establish a risk management process, handle emergency situations, and raise awareness among all employees about risk prevention.

On-the-Ground Application: Risk Identification and Prevention

On February 18, 2025, as part of this training, an on-site assessment visit was conducted to identify occupational risks present at our various production sites. This visit allowed us to gather a detailed overview of the safety situation and propose corrective actions tailored to the realities of the field. Our teams had the opportunity to work directly with safety experts to understand the specific risks in the textile industry, such as machinery-related risks, material handling, or exposure to certain chemicals.

The goal of this evaluation was to propose practical and sustainable solutions to reduce risks while improving employee well-being. This includes implementing enhanced safety measures, optimizing work protocols, and strengthening the safety culture within our teams. The corrective actions taken are based on a participatory approach, involving all levels of the company, so that every employee can contribute to improving working conditions.

Document Review and Follow-up on Best Practices

Following the training, an in-depth document review was conducted to assess the compliance of our internal procedures with the requirements of the ISO 45001:2018 standard. This step allowed us to evaluate the implementation of safety practices and protocols, identify any gaps, and propose areas for improvement. The document review is a key step in the certification process, as it ensures that all measures taken are effective and comply with international standards.

Ongoing monitoring of best practices is a continuous commitment at ACTUAL TEXTILES. We have implemented a system of regular monitoring and audits to ensure continuous improvement of working and safety conditions. This process is carried out in consultation with our employees to integrate their feedback and suggestions into the constant improvement of our practices.

A Strong Commitment from Management

Mrs. Mezbine HIRIDJEE and Mr. Ilann HIRIDJEE, General Directors of ACTUAL TEXTILES, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to employee safety and well-being:
đź’¬ “Adopting the ISO 45001:2018 standard is a key investment in the safety of our teams and the sustainability of our company. By ensuring a work environment that complies with international standards, we provide our employees with a secure framework conducive to their development and productivity. Workplace safety is a key factor for competitiveness and innovation in the textile sector, and we are committed to making it a top priority.”

This commitment demonstrates ACTUAL TEXTILES‘ determination to play an active role in the evolution of the textile sector in Madagascar. As a major player in the industry, we are aware that optimal working conditions not only promote productivity but also creativity and innovation, key elements in competitiveness in the global textile market.
